What Is IATA CBTA Training?

CBTA stands for Competency-Based Training and Assessment, a framework developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for dangerous goods training. Rather than simply requiring learners to sit through a set number of training hours, CBTA focuses on whether someone can actually demonstrate the skills needed to safely handle, pack, and ship hazardous materials by air.

This approach replaced the older, more rigid training requirements outlined in what used to be called Appendix H of the Dangerous Goods Regulations.
